We are searching for a Retail Leadership Associate to join our New York team in our beautiful Chelsea showroom. Our New York market sales are in excess of $75M, thanks to an amazing team of 50 career oriented sales/design professionals and the guidance of our leaders.

About our Leadership Associates:

Our Retail Leadership Associate reports to the Retail Market Manager and, in partnership with that role, has the authority and responsibility to lead their market in a way that creates an exceptional experience for our customers. They accomplish this through leading and mentoring a team of sales professionals who are empowered and confident in their ability to provide design solutions to their customers. They play a key role in the professional development of our design professionals.

 

Our Retail Leadership Associates understand how their customers live and shop. They leverage Room & Board's assortment to maximize the selling floor and therefore meet customer needs. They are passionate about Room & Board's design aesthetic and weave their understanding into the showroom experience. They create meaningful store events that provide opportunities to deepen connections with existing customers as well as reach new customers.

 

Our Retail Leadership Associates are involved in the development of a strategic business plan that adjusts to the changing needs of their market. They play a role in the planning process, forecasting market sales, location headcount and salary plans, and all controllable expenses.

 

Position Requirements:

  • Individual must have a minimum of seven to ten years of leadership experience leading teams in a customer-centric, fashion/design-savvy retail environment and have a passion for design and working on the sales floor with customers.
  • Must have exceptional communication skills, demonstrate confidence, detail and organization, and understand that their success is tied to the growth and development of the team they lead.
  • Surround yourself with the right people and support our commitment to hiring top talent that fits our culture.
  • Focus on individual and collective development of staff members supporting experiences that enrich their careers and support their personal and professional growth.
  • Understand the needs of the team and provide education that inspires their continued development and success.
  • Communicate clear expectations, provide timely and specific feedback and explore meaningful ways to recognize staff members.
  • Collaborate on communication strategies that support an effective cascade of information to the team that includes forums for feedback.
  • Be a champion for the company and build trust with the team through transparent communication, explaining the whys behind the decisions that we make and the benefits of those decisions.
  • Be an advocate for your business by building collaborative relationships with partners outside your four walls and educating them about your business.
