As a Compensation Manager, you will bring a level of confidence, best practices, and consistency to our compensation practices while honoring our philosophical foundations. In this role, you will report to our Director of Total Rewards & Wellbeing, and work alongside our HR Partners and senior leadership team to establish equitable compensation practices that support our ability to recruit, engage and retain our staff members. You’ll be part of a talented 15±-person HR team with professionals each dedicated to building challenging, rewarding, and positive career experiences.  

 

We are actively seeking candidates with either extensive experience as Compensation Managers or professionals with a strong background in compensation within broader HR roles. 

 

Location: 4600 Olson Memorial Highway Golden Valley, MN 55422

Please note: This role is hybrid. Not considering remote.

 

You will share your talents as a Compensation Manager in the following ways:

  • Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive compensation strategies that align with Room & Board’s values and ensure our leaders are prepared with the knowledge and tools to execute those strategies.
  • Conduct thorough analysis of market trends, industry benchmarks, and internal data to assess the competitiveness and effectiveness of existing compensation programs including geo wage differentials, pay ranges, annual wage adjustments, equity audit, pay transparency, etc.
  • Drive the annual compensation planning process and mid-year review process to include merit increase, bonus, and internal equity recommendations, through thoughtful analysis and consultation with key business partners.
  • Facilitate ongoing Compensation Committee meetings and ensure consistent decisions are being made.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners and finance teams to ensure alignment between compensation initiatives, broader talent management and financial objectives.
  • Partner with HRBPs and leaders to ensure all jobs have clear role definitions to effectively benchmark salaries against industry standards and ensure internal equity.
  • Manage the annual Profit-Sharing program, including the calculation and communication around the program.
  • Manage compensation configuration within our HRIS system, UKG.
  • Lead other compensation-related projects and initiatives.

You will bring the following experiences & qualifications as a Compensation Manager:

  • 7-10 years of compensation/HR/benefits experience, ideally in a retail, multistate environment
  • Proficiency in an HRIS system is essential.
  • Deep Understanding of Compensation Principles: You are confident in your understanding of compensation principles, including market trends, internal equity, pay-for-performance strategies, and legal compliance.
  • Strategic Thinking: You easily connect compensation practices with Room & Board’s overall strategies and bring a strategic mindset that aligns efforts toward strategic objectives.
  • Exceptional Communication Skills: You are skilled at conveying compensation concepts with clarity, facilitating productive discussions, and fostering understanding among various partners throughout the business.
  • Strong Analytical Skills: Your strategic mindset complimented by your love for the data and analytics side of the role brings balance to both the art and science of compensation.
  • Relationship Builder. You are authentic and work to cultivate genuine and credible professional relationships.
  • Continuous Learner: You stay updated on industry best practices, regulatory changes, and emerging trends in compensation to continuously optimize our compensation strategies, ensuring they remain competitive, compliant, and aligned with our goals and values.
