We are seeking a Capital & Financial Analyst to join our financial planning and reporting team at Room & Board’s central office in Golden Valley, MN. In this role, you will lead  processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and analyzing capital expenditures, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Information Technologies, Facilities, and Human Resources, to understand and analyze business processes, financial data and evaluate capital projects, ensuring alignment with company goals. Additionally, you will drive improvements in capital management systems, including recommending upgrades to the current fixed asset tool. Your financial insights and expertise will support decision-making and contribute to the company's overall financial planning and success.

4600 Olson Memorial Highway, Golden Valley, MN (off Hwy 100 & 55)

We offer a hybrid work schedule with 3 days per week in the office.

 

As a Capital & Financial Analyst you will share your talents in the following ways:

Capital:

  • Lead processes related to capital, including budgeting, forecasting, analyzing, and recording capital charges, ensuring GAAP compliance.
  • Collaborate with retail, distribution, and central teams to address capital-related questions and decisions, including new locations.
  • Track and evaluate capital projects to ensure alignment with company goals.
  • Explore opportunities for system upgrades to optimize capital management. Recommend system improvements, particularly with the FAS tool, based on in-depth evaluation.

Budgeting and Forecasting: 

  • Coordinate and manage budgeting and forecasting for central business areas using Room & Board’s financial reporting system (Planful).
  • Work with business partners to adjust forecasts, track actual results, and ensure forecasts and plans are completed on time and within budget.
  • Support training and education of planning tools across the organization

Process and Partnership:

  • Coordinate, review, and analyze month-end financial packages. 
  • Collaborate with business partners to improve data accuracy and enhance financial planning tools.
  • Drive productivity improvements through task automation, eliminating duplication, and optimizing information flow.
  • Manage the transition from manual processes (e.g., Excel) to project management platforms like Monday.com.
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain financial models, tools, and reporting to monitor financial performance.
  • Create and present clear written and oral communications summarizing findings, recommendations, and data-driven conclusions.
  • Perform ad-hoc tasks, including research and financial analysis.

You embody these core attributes and qualities as a Capital & Financial Analyst:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required.
  • 3+ years of experience in Finance or Accounting, with in-depth experience in capital projects and a strong understanding of capital management, including how it’s treated, planned, and evaluated.
  • Proficient in financial reporting and planning tools, with preference for SAP and/or Planful (or similar systems like Hyperion or Essbase).
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and SUMIFS.
  • Strong systems adaptability with the ability to quickly learn and integrate new tools and processes.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to educate and constructively challenge others.
