We’re seeking a visionary and hands-on National Sales Manager - Business-to-Business (B2B) Commercial Markets to lead Room & Board for Business - our growing commercial segment. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for growing the brand in the commercial space, grounded in our enduring commitment to American made product and delivering an exceptional customer experience from the initial point of contact through delivery and beyond.

 

You’ll lead a national, non-commissioned business development team and a seasoned project coordination group - representing $20M+ in revenue and a team of 20± professionals - aligning strategy with execution to position Room & Board as a trusted expert in the commercial space. This hybrid Minneapolis-based role reports to the Director of Business Customer Experience and is responsible for leading our Regional Business Development Managers and our Business Customer Experience Manager. Working in close partnership, you will set the vision and execute on the strategy for continued growth of our business channel.

As the National B2B Sales & Operations Leader of our business customer channel, you will share your talents with us in the following ways:

 

Strategic Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and inspire a team of Regional Business Development Managers and the Business Customer Experience Manager and their team of project coordinators.
  • Build strong relationships across remote and local teams, fostering collaboration and shared success.
  • Develop and execute communication strategies that support remote and traveling staff.

Business Growth & Market Expansion

  • Create and implement strategic business plans and sales objectives tailored to commercial segments.
  • Drive growth through data-informed decisions, leveraging analytics to understand customer behavior and identify opportunities.
  • Partner with brand/marketing, PR, and product teams to influence assortment, lead times, and market presence.

Customer Experience Excellence

  • Ensure seamless service and operational excellence through the Project Coordinator team.
  • Champion best-in-class customer experiences from initial contact through delivery and beyond.
  • Represent Room & Board at industry events and tradeshows, strengthening client relationships and brand visibility.

Operational & Financial Stewardship

  • Lead business planning processes (sales, headcount, and expense management) and execute in a manner that is fiscally responsible.
  • Advocate for CRM and business intelligence tool enhancements based on team needs and customer insights.

First-Year Performance Objectives

  • Paint a compelling vision and activate sales strategies leveraging current tools and processes.
  • Build strong internal partnerships to influence evolution while driving success within existing systems.
  • Support and coach the team to adopt tools and systems for consistent, high-impact results.
  • Lead quarterly business reviews and present productivity and staffing reports.
  • Assess and optimize tradeshow and networking event strategies.

The experience and attributes you’ll bring as a National Sales Manager - B2B Commercial Markets:

  • Possess a minimum of 5-7+ years of leading a multiple level leaders in a company division with proven sales growth, preferably in a startup environment. Prior experience leading a team selling into the hospitality, multi-family, senior living and/or workspace environments and/or the design and architect communities that serve them is preferred, but not required.
  • As a leader, you bring a deep commitment to building relationships with peers and embrace your role as a leader of others.

  • Strategic mindset with a hands-on approach to execution.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and influencing skills.

  • Availability to travel nationally 10-15% of the year.
  • Ability to provide proof of identity and legal work authorization upon hire.
