At Room & Board, we're seeking a Retail Leadership Associate to round out our tenured, operationally strong leadership team in San Francisco. Your primary area of focus will be to foster relationships, mentor staff members, and champion a customer-first culture. This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership position in a sales-focused, customer-centric environment. With approximately 65% of leadership time spent on the showroom floorand 100% on weekends—you'll be a visible, accessible leader who builds trust, fosters relationships, and inspires growth.

Showroom Location: 685 Seventh Street, San Francisco, CA 94103

 

Store Hours: 

Monday - Friday: 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.

Saturday: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Sunday: 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.

 

Schedule: 

Sunday - Thursday, with Fridays and Saturdays off. This schedule is subject to change to meet the needs of the business so flexibility with your schedule is necessary. 

 

How you'll contribute as a Retail Leadership Associate: 

  • Lead from the floor, engaging with customers and supporting associates in real time. 
  • Coach and develop staff members, fostering personal and professional growth. 
  • Champion an extraordinary customer experience by applying strategic insight and building meaningful relationships. 
  • Collaborate with fellow leaders to maintain a cohesive, high-performing team. 
  • Create engaging showroom experiences, including events that deepen customer relationships and attract new audiences. 

 

What you bring to the role as a Retail Leadership Associate: 

  • 5+ years of leadership experience in a customer-centric retail environment, with a proven track record of leading high-performing teams. Successful Retail Leadership Associates have found that this position offers greater autonomy and the opportunity for more strategic depth compared to traditional store management, with a retail culture designed to be different. 
  • Proven ability to coach and develop talent. You are dedicated to enriching the lives of your team by helping them grow both personally and professionally.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with a belief that team development drives success. 
  • Passion for retail and design, with a hands-on approach to customer engagement and team support. 
  • Clear, motivating communication style—setting expectations, offering timely feedback, and recognizing achievements. 
  • Ability to build strong cross-functional relationships and collaborate on business strategies informed by market trends.
