Why This Accounting Associate (AP/AR) Role Matters:
As an Accounting Associate (AP/AR), you’ll be part of a collaborative finance team that ensures the accuracy and integrity of our financial operations. Aside from the core function of processing, reconciling, reporting and analyzing AP/AR accounts, you’ll play a key role in managing vendor relationships, supporting internal teams, and driving process improvements that help Room & Board remain a high-performing, agile organization.

Please note: This role is hybrid - in the office 3-days (T, W & Th). Not considering remote.

 

You will share your talents as an Accounting Associate (AP/AR) in the following ways:

  • Accurately input and route vendor invoices for approval and resolve any issues proactively.
  • Process return-to-vendor documentation and staff expense reports.
  • Manage vendor onboarding, credit applications, and weekly payment runs (check, ACH, wire).
  • Reconcile daily banking activity, credit cards, financing programs, and gift cards.
  • Provide monthly financial oversight, reporting, and analysis of AR balances.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes in collaboration with the broader Finance team.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, including system upgrades.
  • Maintain strong internal controls across AP/AR processes.
  • Assist with external audits and business partner data requests.
  • Complete and file annual 1099s.
  • Interact with a variety of external and internal partners.

You’ll also bring the following:

  • A minimum of 2 years of hands-on AP/AR or general accounting experience.
  • AA/AS degree in Accounting preferred.
  • Proficiency in SAP or similar ERP systems and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
  • Experience with AP routing and approval systems is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to provide proof of identity and legal work authorization upon hire.

  • Invoices are processed accurately and on time, with proactive identification and resolution of discrepancies to avoid delays or rework.

  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills, confidently engaging with internal stakeholders and external partners in a professional, solutions-oriented manner.
  • Drives and supports the smooth adoption of process improvements and system enhancements, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum efficiency.
  • Performs timely and thorough reconciliations, resolving financial discrepancies with precision and attention to detail.
  • Provides reliable, audit-ready documentation and responsive support for internal and external audit requests and business inquiries.
