As an In-Home Furniture Repair Associate with Room & Board, you'll bring your craftsmanship and problem-solving skills directly into our customers' homes and businesses. You'll repair a wide range of American-made, handcrafted wood, metal, and upholstered furniture — restoring each piece to a level of quality where the original flaw is virtually undetectable. 

 

You are a creative, resourceful, and confident decision-maker who thrives on solving unique challenges with care and precision. In addition to furniture repairs, you may perform minor wall and floor touch-ups to ensure the space is left in pristine condition. You take pride in maintaining a clean, respectful, and professional work area in every customer's home. 

 

This is a hands-on, physical role that requires stamina, attention to safety, and a commitment to excellence. You'll be part of a collaborative 40+ person delivery and distribution team dedicated to delivering an exceptional customer experience that sets Room & Board apart. You'll safely drive and operate a service van, completing an average of 4-6 in-home repairs a day, with additional time for routing, communication, and follow-up with colleagues and leaders throughout the week.

Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday, from 6:00am - 2:30pm.


The qualities you'll bring as an In-Home Furniture Repair Associate:  

  • Skilled trade. You bring 5-7 years of experience mending, repairing, refinishing, and touching up solid wood and metal, as well as upholstery stitching/repair. You bring precision to your work and take pride in your craftsmanship.
  • Independent and Collaborative Team player. You are comfortable with a high level of autonomy and accountability. But you also value being part of a team. You accept responsibility for your actions and follow through on your commitments to achieve great work done as a team.
  • Effective Communicator and Work Safely. You bring a professional and direct communication style that makes you approachable with our customers and in the workplace. You appreciate receiving and giving feedback in a manner that makes working together better.  You easily apply common sense and comprehension to read and interpret safety rules, work instructions, and procedure manuals. You drive safely and have a high level of respect while working in customers’ spaces.
  • Create Extraordinary Customer Experiences. You enjoy building a genuine rapport with customers that ensures both trust and a productive work environment. You have the ability to discuss our design aesthetic, natural materials, and make furniture placement suggestions.

Additional requirements to be an In-Home Furniture Repair Associate:

  • A genuine passion for serving customers, demonstrated through prior experience in a customer-facing delivery or customer service role, is highly valued and preferred.
  • At least 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license.
  • Able to lift/carry heavy items with the assistance of proper lifting equipment.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English is required to ensure effective communication with internal teams and customers.
  • Able to pass pre-employment requirements, including a 5-panel drug screen (no THC)
  • Ability to provide proof of identity and legal work authorization upon hire
  • Ability to pass a bench test, demonstrating your repair skills.

  • Salary:  $29.81 - $34.62/ hour ($62,000 - $72,000 / year)
    Potential for occasional overtime. The hourly rate is offered based on experience/qualifications.
